Some women are just forbidden.

Like—off the top of my head—MY SISTER’S LIFE-LONG BEST FRIEND.

Sis has made it patently clear that Vanessa is hands-off, as in keep my ladies’ man paws far away from her clever, go-getter best friend who’s ready for the real deal. That should be an easy guideline to follow, except Vanessa is deliciously flirty, easy to talk to, and laughs at my jokes. Translation – my libido has been craving her many, many years. So many that we might have stolen a kiss or two.

Can you say pent-up, crazy, raw desire?

That’s exactly what we’re both feeling when the storm of the century hits and it’s 10 inches of snow with Vanessa and me trapped in a cabin all night long…

The trouble is—Vanessa isn’t interested in my playboy ways, and I have one night to convince her that I’m the real deal.

Some women are just forbidden. Like…oh, just off the top of my head…say, my sister’s lifelong best friend. Forbidden, as in if I touch her, it’s sayonara favorite-body-part.

Do I kid?

No, and I don’t want to test my sister’s resolve, so I stay far, far away from lovely Vanessa. Sweet Vanessa. Vanessa who wants the real deal. Keep your dirty hands off my best friend Vanessa.

Hey, that’s what my sister said.

Look, I’m not scared of my sister.

But I do respect her. I was raised right. I was taught respect, honor, and duty. And above all…family comes first. When Perri told me years ago she’d have my balls in a sling if I put my ladies’-man paws anywhere near her bestie, I listened, because I happen to like the boys a helluva lot.

Honestly, though, I followed her guidelines not just for the sake of my intact nuts. I did it because she asked. If it’s important to Perri that my dirty hands stay far, far away from Vanessa, I can abide by that.

I can resist sexy, alluring, flirty Vanessa.

Witty, clever, oh, look, there’s mistletoe above us Vanessa.

Oh, did I say that?

Well, Vanessa did, and I’ll never forget that Christmas party when we were home from college.

But I swear, it was only a kiss. A sweet, tantalizing, drive-my-body-insane-with-wanting-more kiss. I’ve mostly stayed away, and that’s not been easy, so give a man some points for stellar restraint.

Especially since I’ve had it bad for Vanessa for years.

As in decades.

But sometimes, over the decades, you slip a little bit when you want something. You bend to the left, to the right, and you steal another kiss. Fine, fine. There was one more time—a year ago, when we were at Vanessa’s bowling alley for New Year’s Eve party, lifting glasses and toasting to the new year.

It wasn’t like we got it on right there on the bowling ball return.

(It was beside the dartboard.)

And it was a chaste New Year’s kiss.

Too chaste for me.

When I was home alone in bed, though, nothing was innocent that night. In my mind, it was one hot, sexy, filthy kiss that made us both rip off clothes.

Except, even then, those words—balls in a sling—echoed.

I listened. I’ll keep listening. After all, it’s only lust I feel, right?

I can set that aside, no problem.

Until the weekend before my sister’s wedding…

Book Review ~ The feel good factor by Lauren Blakely

Are you in a book hangover? When I get into one of those, a good RomCom is the perfect remedy. Lauren Blakley is the queen of RomCom’s, and her new book The Feel Good Factor is perfect! Perri is a cop in Lucky Falls, Derek is the new bad boy in town who Perri pulls over for speeding. It was instant chemistry with them. I loved the slow build of their relationship, the focus at the start of the book was getting to know the characters apart, their personality and love of their family, friends and job as public servants of Lucky Falls. When they finally found each other again in Lucky Falls, with the help of Derek’s sister, watching their relationship build and blossom was perfect. It was natural, like you were watching a movie that is your life right before your eyes. What I don’t  get is why we always have to have the typical breakup and the amazing reunion? But I digress. Loved this book, it has the right amount of romance and comedy to keep you engaged. And the epilogues; they were amazing! Perfect way to end the story!

Book review ~ The story of us by Jody Hilford

I received a copy of Story of Us by Jody Holford to read and review. Jody herself reached out to me and I’m glad she did. I fell in love with the story line and the characters, and being Canadaian, especially loved the mention of a Canadian favorite in the story. Declan and Sophia were the perfect couple. Both are stubborn as a mule and when they finally gave in and became a couple it was perfect.

I’m sad to see this sorry end, I loved reading this book and watching Declan and Sophia’s story unfold. I wish there was more to the storyline and hope we get glimpses of them in other books.

Jody is a brand new author to me and I’m hooked. I can’t wait to dive in and read more of her books when I have I have time. She writes beautiful love stories that are have sex implied but never described which is different for me, I usually gravitate toward books that are on the erotic side but this was a nice change of pace and perfect for the book hangover I was in after this weekends read.

Book Review ~ Cruel Money by K.A Linde

I received an ARC of Cruel Money by K.A Linde and Oh my god it was amazing! I was instantly pulled into the story. There wasn’t a dull or slow moment in the book at all. It had everything in it from romance to tragedy. I’m in a serious book hangover right now and the book ended on a major cliffhanger. The book is part of a 3 book series, the second book releases in April and already I think that’s too far away 🙂 This was a definite 5+ star read, I already want to read it again.

Cruel Money is somewhat of a second chance romance. Penn and Natalie had met 6 years prior in Paris and had a fling, he left her behind and she resented him for it ever since. Rewind 6 years to Natalie house sitting his summer house! When she had a fling with him 6 years ago, she didn’t know he was basically Manhattan Royalty. Can Natalie get past what had happened 6 years ago and get to know the real Penn?

K.A Linde is a new author for me, after reading this ARC i’m definitely going to check out her other series. She’s an amazing writer and I can’t wait to be introduced to her other book boyfriends.

Book Review ~ Evidence of Desire by Lexi Blake

I received an ARC of Evidence of desire by Lexi Blake. The book is told in the 3rd person and is a murder mystery romance. This is the first mystery romance I’ve ever read. I’m having a hard time getting into the book. I find there’s too much detail, likely because it’s told in the 3rd person and I wish the author would get on with the story.

The book is interesting but has too many details and too many things going on at once. A potential blossoming romance, a murder investigation and a potential scandal. I’ve had a hard time keeping track. Again, I think there’s so much detail because it’s told in the 3rd person and I’m not a fan of 3rd person writing, I much prefer to be in the thoughts of the characters not the narrators, it helps me develop a connection with the characters, something you don’t  get with a 3rd person narration.

The first sex scene didn’t happen until almost halfway through the book and it was a disappointment. All this build up for a moment that wasn’t portrayed as sexy. Part of reading romance novels is the fantasy aspect of the whole love story, how they met, their first kiss, their first time having sex, the last thing I want to read is about words and actions that could typically be found in a normal relationship. I want to read about the fantasy and wish it could happen in real life.

If your a fan of 3rd party narration, this is a 5 star read. It’s full of suspense, both for the murder investigation and the buildup of a romance. If your like me and aren’t a fan of 3rd party narration this is is a 3 star read and that’s why I have to give this book 3 stars.

“You catching that?” Jase asked, his focus returning to the poster and the tape.

“Catching what?” Heather replied.

Poster in hand, he moved to the front window and pressed it against the glass, smoothing it before turning back to her. “Catching the little buzz we have going on between us.”

“A little… the thing is…” C’mon Heather, be strong. You are the cookie lady now. You don’t date. You are all you need. That’s what the podcast she’d been listening to said to her over and over again. Mantra in hand, she slapped on her I’m-in-charge-here-buddy mask. “It would never work between us.”

The edges of his lips ticked up ever so slightly. “You can’t know that.”

Oh, she knew.

He sauntered toward her.

Unwilling to back down, she stepped toward him. Expression firm, she said, “I can already see exactly how this whole thing would play out if we let it. You’d start with a horrible pick up line.”

“Guilty.” His hands fell to the belt loops of his jeans.

Her palm itched to press against the front of his tee, but she refrained. “Then I’d counter with a witty response. This time my reply would be even better. Funny, intelligent…everything.”

“Now, that I’d like to hear.” Nothing but a foot of crackling air sizzled between them.

“Trust me, if I had said it, it would have been epic. You can’t repeat something like that. It has to happen in the moment.” She shook her head, the sleek ponytail she’d carefully arranged earlier brushing against the collar of her jacket.

“That right there is why we wouldn’t have worked out. I mean you couldn’t even come up with a snappier reply.” He crossed his arms, the little veins of his muscled forearms flexing with the motion.

“Oh, I would’ve. It would’ve been the best response in the history of pick-up line replies.”

“I don’t believe you.” The glimmer in his eyes lit up his entire face.

He was clearly enjoying this exchange entirely too much.

Control. She needed the power back. “Trust would’ve always been one of your issues in our relationship.”

“Maybe you just couldn’t be honest with me about how you felt. That’s probably why we would have always argued.” He raised his eyebrows in a clear ultimatum.

Challenge accepted.

She stepped the tiniest bit closer to him. “Let’s say you threw out that awful line again. The one about taking me out.”

“I’m with you so far.” He glanced down to the floor in clear acknowledgment of her movement forward, but he held his ground.

“We’d banter for a good bit—”

His face sparked with humor. “Sounds about right.”

“Both of us would get that tingly feeling of attraction. You know the one.” So maybe she made her voice a little breathier than usual. Sue her.

His mouth parted, the exaggerated fullness of his lower lip apparent. “You have a tingly feeling?”

She shook her head and raised a hand. Not touching his chest like she desperately wanted to but getting within millimeters. “That’s not the important part. Eventually you would convince me to go on a date.”

“I’d take you to this great taco stand. I love tacos.”

“Despite that, I’d probably let you take me out again. And again,” she said, not willing to acknowledge the way she wanted to nip at his lip with her teeth.

He nodded. “I’m digging this relationship so far.”

“Eventually, you’d ask me to move in. I’d say no. You’d pressure me, even though I wouldn’t be ready.”

“What can I say? I wouldn’t want to spend a night away from you. No use paying for two apartments.” She shrugged, dropping her hand.

“I’d cave, and we’d finally move in together—”

“Do we get to hook up first? Don’t skip that part.” This time he moved forward. Not a lot, just a smidge.

She stayed put. She refused to back up first. “Of course. It would be awful. Sorry Speed Racer, but I need more than three minutes of go-time.”

“That’s not what you’d say after you screamed my name.” He leaned forward, the whisper of his words brushing against her ear.

God, there wasn’t but a breath of space between them. She was all turned-on Heather, ready to throw her why-have-a-man-when-you-can-have-cookies resolve away.

His breath smelled of cinnamon candy and coffee, turning her knees effectively to melted butter.
No, she stopped herself. Back to the break-up at hand.

Faking It never felt so good in this red-hot new standalone by New York Times bestselling author K. Bromberg.

Faking It by K. Bromberg

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Publishing Date: January 8th, 2019

Zane Phillips mistook me for his dog walker. It shouldn’t surprise me that the man with a suit more expensive than my rent would assume that I was there to serve him. The positive? I put him in his place. The negative? I missed my job interview because of it. Now I find out he’s a rich Australian entrepreneur, and he wants to make up for tanking my interview.

Yes, he’s impossibly hot – but he’s also an arrogant jackass – so…no thanks.

But after a little white lie I tell spirals out of control, I’m somehow offered the chance to play Zane’s girlfriend to help promote his new dating website – and the best part? He can’t say no because he’ll get caught in his lie, too.

Little did I know this would entail sharing a tour bus with him for the next few months. The fact that the bus has just one bed isn’t the most ideal of circumstances, but this spokesperson gig might be the kick in the pants my career needs, so why not take a chance?

Famous last words.

Now I’m crisscrossing the country – and sharing that bed – with the one guy I can’t stand. And even worse, my traitorous body is wondering at every turn what it’s like to be down under the gorgeous Australian. But as the miles unfurl, so does our passion…and if I’m not careful, I might end up believing that fairy tales really do come true.

Crushing on the cop cover reveal

Crushing on the Cop – RELEASE DAY – OCTOBER 25th!

Cristian Bianco has two things against him—he’s a police officer and he’s a police officer in the 18th District…meaning my dad is his boss.

Growing up as the Commander’s daughter and having his magnifying glass focused on everything I did was more than I could handle.

Now, I’m out on my own, living by my own rules. Well, mostly. The ‘job’ I created for myself has me in some hot water and my exit strategy isn’t exactly working out how I’d hoped.

Which is why when my best friend bids on Cristian for me at a charity bachelor auction, I’m not having it. A man in blue is only going to be one thing for me—a problem.

Except after his brother starts dating my best friend he becomes harder to ignore. The eight-pack abs. The sense of style only a girl like me can appreciate. The way he puts his family first. It all adds up to make him one irresistible prospect and has me wondering if he knows how to use those handcuffs the right way—by locking my wrists to his headboard.

Engaged to the EMT – RELEASE DAY – DECEMBER 6th!

Luca Bianco is a jerk. There I said it.

He thinks he’s so suave and sexy, walking around in his paramedic uniform stretched out by all his hard muscles and saving lives every day. I swear he thinks every woman in the world kill for a chance to be with him.

Men like Luca are good for one thing only—a one-night stand—not commitment. I don’t care if my friend did pay good money at a charity bachelor auction for me to go on a date with him, I refuse to do it.

That is until Luca offers me a deal I can’t refuse, and I agree to be his pretend fiancé.

The heat that’s simmered between us for a decade ignites and I’m not sure even Luca will be able to kickstart my heart after I call code blue.

What’s that saying? Love is blind?

Not true. I can see this head-on collision coming a mile away.
