Book Review ~ Nobody does it better by Lauren Blakely

NobodyDoesItBetter_COVER.jpgI just finished my advanced copy of Nobody does it better by Lauren Blakely. This book is the next in the series Lucky in Love. It’s Shaw and Vanessa’s story and it was a good quick one. They have been in love with each other for years and neither knew. He’s her best friends brother and is off limits. She is his sisters best friend and he’s been told he is not allowed to date her so she’s forbidden fruit so he’s been admiring her from afar since high school. They get stuck at her family’s cabin in Tahoe due to a snowstorm and this is their chance to tell eachother how they feel about the other.

Lauren doesn’t disappoint, this book was full of lust, romance and some humour. It’s the perfect book hangover book and I’m disappointed that this amazing series is finished. The women of these series are my idol’s, so carefree and their friendship is one I wish I had. This is a definite 5 star read!

Book Review ~ Hollywood Prince by Natasha Madison

hollywood-prince-ebook completeNatasha Madison’s Hollywood price was an amazing 5 star read! I received an ARC of this book thinking it was the first ever book from Natasha I’ve ever read but I think I’ve read her previous book. The book was amazing, a true romance story. Erin was given the biggest opportunity of her life, the chance at her dream job, only problem, her new assignment, Carter, is the biggest PR nightmare. Carter, THE Hollywood Price, is known for being the biggest playboy in Hollywood, maybe even the world. He goes home with a new woman every night. What he doesn’t realize is how his playboy ways are ruining his career. Given the biggest role of his life, the production company made him sign a contract that states he needs to get a squeaky clean image in order to save his career and make this movie the best movie ever made. He’s not allowed to have sex for 60 days in order to repair his broken image.

Erin hates Carter and his playboy ways. She wants to repair his image and get this promotion she’s been working towards for the last 5 months. She didn’t expect to fall for him. I loved reading this book and watching Erin’s armor slowly slip away and let Carter in. They were inseparable for two week on set in Montana, getting to know each other and Erin getting to see who the real Carter is. The book is full of love and twist and turns and unexpected things happen that you don’t see coming, there’s actually a few of those that happen and it keeps you engaged and turning the page to keep reading. I was disappointed when the book ended, I wanted more of Erin and Carter and to me that’s the sign of a great book. There’s always the possibility of getting to glimpse these characters in the next book by the author but its not going to be enough with these two if it does happen. I’m sitting here in another book hangover wanting to re-read this book again even though I just finished it and know what happens. I can’t wait to see what Natasha comes up with next and she’s gained herself a new fan.

Book Review ~ Downfall by Jay Crownover

I received an ARC of Downfall and finished reading it today. I had a hard time following all the characters but we were warned about this at the start of the book so not mentioning it as a negative just a point. I enjoyed this book. It was the first book from the Author Jay Crownover . I’m not used to her writing style and the amount of detail she puts into everything and found myself skimming over some paragraphs just to get to the dialogue of what was saying. Once I got halfway through the book I lost interest in the extra explanation and just wanted to get to the dialogue. It made my heart melt reading all about Solo and how he instantly fell for Orley and her daughter Nobel. It takes a special kind of man to take a child that’s not theirs by blood and raise and take care of that child as if they were their own blood. I almost gave up on the story, not because I wasn’t interested, but because I personally found there were too many words to get through to get to the important parts, the dialogue between the characters.  Because of that I give this read 4 stars.

Book Review ~ Advice from a Jilted Bride by Piper Rayne

I received an ARC of Piper Rayne’s Advice from a Jilted Bride. I absolutely loved this book! This is the second book by Piper that I’ve read and she is now one of my favorites. This book matches her tagline on her website “Heartwarming humor with a side of sizzle” to a T. If you’re looking for a book that focuses on the connection of the characters and the development of their love then this book is for you. I loved that this book made me laugh at times but then it also made my heart stop a couple of times. I finished the book last night and I’m still in a huge book hangover over this book.

The story, in my words, is about Brooklyn, the bride that was stood up at the altar by her fiance. Wyatt is her new hot neighbor. They meet on what was supposed to be Brooklyn’s wedding day. Wyatt had no intention of becoming friends with anyone while he was in town but that all changes when he meets Brooklyn. This couple started out as friends but you could feel the instant chemistry. I fell for Wyatt instantly and he is currently the book boyfriend that I cannot stop thinking about. I can’t wait for The Bailey’s book #3 to release so get a little more of this amazing couple. I need to go back and read the first book in the series, not because its needed to follow the story but because you had mini glimpses of them in Brooklyn and Wyatt’s story that I’m intrigued and want to read about them.

Book Review ~ Make me yours by Tia Louise

Imakemeyours-ebook signed up to receive an ARC of Make me yours by Tia Louise based solely on the description of the book. The plot seemed like a storyline I would be interested in and the book did not disappoint. I was hooked from the moment I started reading the book. I had a huge migraine and looking at the screen was not helping but once I started I couldn’t stop. I had the book finished the same day I started and I loved every minute of the book.

The book was like a fairy tale. Remi and Ruby’s chemistry was felt through the writing. It was a pleasure watching them fall for each other. What I loved the most about this book was aside from Remi being a billionaire, the story felt like it could be real and not a fantasy. They were regular people who met in a common place that people meet. I felt like I could have been Ruby and I get a real joy in being able to relate to the heroine of romance stories.

Definite 5 star read, the book was full of love, romance, and some steamy sex. It’s a must read. The book releases March 4th, be sure to grab your copy!

Book Review ~ Diary of a Bad Boy by Meghan Quinn

I received an ARC of Diary of a Bad Boy by Meghan Quinn and I have to say this is the best book I’ve read in 2019. It makes you laugh out loud, iit makes you cry and it makes you swoon, all things in a great romance book. The hero, Roark, is your typical bad boy. Add in the Irish accent and you’ve got swoon material. He has many problems, one of the biggest is his temper. He can fly off the handle quick and is often getting into fights. Our heroin, Sutton, is your typical good girl. She’s never out past 9, very easy going about life, the complete opposite to Roark. They meet in a place you would not expect and end up communicating with each other when their friends each accidentally grab the others phone. It’s quite the funny story.

This book had me engaged from the beginning and it had nothing to do with Roark’s Irish accent. The trouble and hoops that Roark put Sutton through to get her phone back and what Sutton ended up having to do to get it back had me on the edge of my seat, I couldn’t and didn’t want to put the book down. From there this amazing relationship began to blossom in front of our eyes and Roark being the typical bad boy would not give in to the feelings he was feeling for Sutton and kept pushing her away when she started to get too close so when they finally gave in and got together it was perfect. This book was definitely a 5 star read, I was disappointed when the story finally ended because I couldn’t get enough of this amazing couple.

Book Review & Excerpt ~ Engaged to the EMT by Piper Rayne

A Sexy FAKE RELATIONSHIP rom com standalone written by a duo of two USA Bestselling Authors

Luca Bianco is a jerk. There I said it.

He thinks he’s so suave and sexy, walking around in his paramedic uniform stretched out by all his hard muscles and saving lives every day. I swear he thinks every woman in the world would kill for a chance to be with him.

Men like Luca are good for one thing only—a one-night stand—not commitment. I don’t care if my friend did pay good money at a charity bachelor auction for me to go on a date with him, I refuse to do it.

That is until Luca offers me a deal I can’t refuse, and I agree to be his pretend fiancé.

The heat that’s simmered between us for a decade ignites and I’m not sure even Luca will be able to kickstart my heart after I call code blue.

What’s that saying? Love is blind?

Not true. I can see this head-on collision coming a mile away.

The light from the street reflects the humor shining in his eyes. “I’m just sick of the fighting.”

“Fighting is what we do best. It’s basically how we communicate.” Then all the puzzle pieces join together in my head. I’m so stupid. “You want something.”

We pull up in front of my house just as I realize what a fucking moron I am.

“Nope.” He takes the keys, grabs the bag of food and gets out of the car.

He’s totally playing me. I might not be a psychologist who can quickly spot a liar, but Luca, I know too well. Not well, but when it comes to our interactions—I know him. And this nice Luca, taking me to a Hawks game, buying me dinner, wanting to eat with me…this isn’t the Luca Bianco I know.

I climb out of his car, the slam of the door echoing down the dark residential street. “Tell me what it is you want.”

His lips remain straight, not even a hint of a smile or smirk.

Another clear sign that this isn’t the Luca I know.

“Come on. Let’s eat.” He nods in the direction of my house.

“By prolonging whatever it is, you’re just pissing me off, which means if you need something, I’m more than likely going to say no. Or we could play a little game…”

“How about we eat?” He waits patiently as I insert the key into my door, disengage the alarm that Cristian, Luca’s brother insisted we get installed.

Police officers. Jeez.

We step inside and he’s the one to shut the door and flick the lock.

“Planning to have your way with me?” I’m not serious as I walk into the kitchen to grab us some drinks, utensils, and napkins.

The sound of the television blaring drifts into the kitchen seconds later.

With my hands full, I head back into the living room. “Feel free to make yourself at home,” I deadpan, handing Luca a Vitamin Water and a napkin.

“Thanks.” He lifts the napkin and drink. “And thanks.”

We sit on the couch because although our house is nice and newly redecorated thanks to Maddie’s mad skills, the family room area is small and the best place to see the television is the couch. No worries though, there’s still a cushion between us.

I open up my box of food, a little bit of steam hitting my face. “I can’t just sit here and watch soccer with you and not know what you want.”

I hate that I’ve had to resort to being sincere in my request.

He opens up his own box and I’m a tad jealous I didn’t get the burger. It smells and looks delicious.

Luca doesn’t respond, just stands and heads into the kitchen.

He knows our house way too well thanks to his brothers always suggesting we meet here when we go out.

I pop a cauliflower floret into my mouth, tasting the Korean flavor makes my mouth water. Opening up my Vitamin Water to cool my tongue, I ignore Luca’s return, instead, fixating on the television as he rounds the coffee table in front of me. The couch dips with the weight of his body which is now closer than before.

I’ve never been alone with Luca, much less this close. I feel a shift in our volatile relationship like the stillness before a storm. It’s too quiet. It’s too calm. Too…enjoyable.

“Here.” My gaze shifts from the television, although I couldn’t tell you the score of the game and I see he’s holding half his burger out to me.

“What’s this?” I ask, loading my mouth with another califloret.

Man, it’s hot.

“I think you had a little bit of drool dripping from your mouth when I opened the container. How about we share?”

He smiles. A smile I’ve only ever seen on his face with his friends, or his brothers, and especially his mom. He doesn’t even wear this smile when he’s with girls. At least not that I’ve ever seen. That fact runs around my stomach stirring up the butterflies to max flight.

I don’t like this.

It’s too damn calm.

Where are the eighty mile per hour winds?

“Luca, if you don’t tell me what you want, I’m going to kick you out of my house.” I take half the burger and slide my cauliflower and fries closer to him as an offering.

“You can’t just wait?” he asks, seeming disappointed.

“HA!” I point to him with a greasy finger. “You do want something from me. Tell me what it is.”

“You’re ridiculous you know that, right? A normal person would wait.”

I shake my head. “No, they wouldn’t.”

See, this feels good. This feels right.

“LUCA!” I scream.

He blows out a breath. “Fine. I need a favor from you.”

Book Review ~ Engaged to the EMT by Piper Rayne

I received an ARC of Piper Rayne’s Engaged to the EMT. This is the 3rd book in the Blue Collar series and the first book of Pipers and Rayne’s I’ve read. Only found out they are 2 authors by reading this book. You don’t need to read the first 2 books in the series to understand what’s happening in this book.

I loved this book. Definite 5 star read! I loved both characters, they were perfect for each other and it was fun reading them fall for each other. The perfect romantic comedy with a sexy paramedic and a spunky physical therapist. I can’t wait to go back and read the first 2 books in the series to find out if the other 2 Bianco brothers are as swoon worthy as Luca.

Lauren and Luca went to high school together. Lauren ended up dating Luca’s best friend but Luca liked Lauren and in an effort to never want to betray his best friend he found it best to act like he hated her. They both hated each other so when Luca comes up with the idea to pretend to be engaged to show his mom he’s got his act together before she goes in for heart surgery, Lauren is the perfect girl for the job. Their hate for each other will keep them from falling for each other during this pretend engagement.

Book Review ~ In Her Space by Amie Knight

IHS-AN

I received an ARC of In her space to read and review. In her space is a continuation of Liv and Adam’s story 10 years later. Adam is back for revenge on the people who took him from Liv. It was a beautiful story, you could see Adam and Liv’s love for each other shine through the pages. There was tragedy but in the end but it only brought Adam and Liv closer together and helped to mend relationships that were broken 10 years ago.

Unlike the first book, this book grabbed your attention right away and kept it. I finished the book in 5 hours where the first book took me 2 weeks to read. I was so excited to receive the second book in the story to finish this love story. These characters are the definition of love. Money, social status, none of that mattered to these two and it was great to see these feelings finally extend to the friends from Liv’s past. I loved this book, and the 2 epilogues were a perfect ending to this roller coaster love story.
