It all started with the invitation. To my ex-fiance’s new wedding.

I should have ignored it.Thrown it away. Set it afire. But I didn’t. I replied.

With a plus one.

And then my assistant accidentally mailed it.

Enter Hayes Whitley. Mega-movie star. The man who has captured the hearts of millions. But I gave him mine years ago. He was my first love. He was my everything. Right until he up and left to chase his dreams without so much as a simple goodbye.

When he showed up out of the blue ten years later, I should have known to steer clear. I should have rejected his offer to take me to my ex’s wedding. I should have never let him kiss me.

But I didn’t.

And now we’re left wondering if the pieces of the life we once shared still fit together somehow. First loves are hard to forget. The question is, do we want to forget? Or do we risk the chance and see what happens next?

About the Author:

kristy-bromberg

New York Times Bestselling author K. Bromberg writes contemporary novels that contain a mixture of sweet, emotional, a whole lot of sexy and a little bit of real. She likes to write strong heroines and damaged heroes who we love to hate and hate to love.
She’s a mixture of most of her female characters: sassy, intelligent, stubborn, reserved, outgoing, driven, emotional, strong, and wears her heart on her sleeve. All of which she displays daily with her husband and three children where they live in Southern California.
On a whim, K. Bromberg decided to try her hand at this writing thing. Since then she has written The Driven Series (Driven, Fueled, Crashed, Raced, Aced), the standalone Driven Novels (Slow Burn, Sweet Ache, Hard Beat, and Down Shift (Releasing 10/4/16)), and a short story titled UnRaveled. She is currently finishing up Sweet Cheeks a standalone novel out at the end of 2016.
Her plans for 2017 include a sports romance duet (The Player (#1) and The Catch (#2)) and the Everyday Heroes series (Cuffed (#1), Combust (#2), and Cockpit (#3). She’s also writing a novella for the 1,001 Dark Night series that will be out in February 2017.
She loves to hear from her readers so make sure you check her out on social media.

Sweet Cheeks

sweet-cheeks-1Sweet Cheeks, what an amazing story this was. I’ve been excited for the release of this book ever since I read the first 3 chapters in Night Shift 2. Saylor is a cupcake baker and Hayes is a big time Hollywood actor. They were childhood friends and High School sweethearts. Hayes left Saylor behind 1 weekend when they were teens to follow his dream in Hollywood and never looked back. Ten years later Saylor receives an invitation to her ex fiancés wedding and in the heat of the moment RSVP’s yes to the wedding not intending to go. Her brother, Ryder, finds out and actually thinks it’s a good idea she go to the wedding to confront her ex fiancé and ex friends in hopes they will see she’s happy and moved on from Mitch and that they will stop bad mouthing her cupcake business in hopes of getting some lost business since the split. Ryder call’s in his favor to Hayes in hopes he will take Saylor to the wedding.
I have a new love of second chance love stories. The connection with the heroine and hero is immediate and all the love and hurt from before comes rushing back the minute they see each other for the first time since they split up. This story is no different; you can feel Saylor’s hurt when Hayes comes back into her life, but that hurt passes quickly when she realizes she’s still in love with him ten years later. Her love for Hayes is the reason things didn’t work out with her ex Mitch, no one could ever compare to the love she had for Hayes. Then you have Hayes, the big hotshot Hollywood actor who could have any woman he wants but none of them hold a candle to Saylor and the love that he has for her. I loved watching the two of them fall in love for the second time, how they can so easily fall back into the love they shared as teenagers like they weren’t apart for the last ten years.
After reading this book I won’t ever look at a bag of Chip Ahoy cookies without being brought back to this book and Saylor and Hayes love story. I love how Kristy can take ordinary things like cookies and ducks and add them to her books as something so insignificant yet every time we see them we immediately are brought back to the book they were in and the memories of the love story are brought back front and center making you want to curl back up with the book and read it again.
I know Kristy was nervous about releasing this book and the reaction we readers would have to the story being it was the first novel she’s released that wasn’t a part of the Driven series but Kristy you have nothing to worry about. This was truly an amazing book, by far the favorite one of Kristy’s books I’ve read so far. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. I highly recommend reading this book.

Fractures in Ink by Helena Hunting

Publication Date: November 14th, 2016

Genre: Contemporary Romance

FIInk HH Cover (1).jpg

Synopsis:

Sometimes the things we shouldn’t want become exactly what we need . . .

Waitressing at a seedy strip club isn’t ideal, but it pays Sarah Adamson’s tuition. Her goal is to finish her master’s program and get a job that doesn’t involve tight skirts and groping hands. She doesn’t need distractions. Especially not the one that comes in the form of a hot-as-sin tattoo artist who works across the street from her apartment.

Kicked out at sixteen, and a high school dropout, Chris Zelter is familiar with wanting things he can’t have. His fractured life has never been easy. As the product of someone else’s bad decisions, he knows exactly what happens when the wrong person controls your marionette strings. Now an accomplished tattoo artist in a renowned studio in Chicago, Chris has it together.

Mostly.

Apart from his infatuation with Sarah. She’s way out of his league, and Chris knows it.

But he’s willing to be her bad decision. At least for now.

Fractures in Ink

fractures-in-ink-hh-cover131I was given an ARC of Fractures in Ink by Helena Hunting in exchange for an honest review. What a great book this was. It’s the first non Pucked book I have read of Helena’s and it was great. I’m use to humor with Helena so to read a more dramatic book was different. There were parts of the story where I absolutely hated Chris, a tattoo artist. Pushing away Sarah because he thought she deserved better, letting his past experience with women get in the way of the truth, not wanting to open up and let Sarah in for fear she would walk away. Then there were the tender moments where he helped out his little sister when she was struggling, similarly to the way he had when he was younger and how he tried to help his mother time and time again, even after the way she treated him. He was easy to fall for until he went and put his walls up with Sarah.

Then there’s Sarah, she’s stubborn as a mule refusing to ask Chris for help, not wanting to be like her mother, dependent on a man’s help, and realizing he had just helped out his mother financially. She instead lets her scumbag of a boss loan her the money, which is just one more thing to hold over her to keep her employed at the strip club. After the loan from her boss and knowing what he probably had in mind as the “interest” payment for said loan Sarah pushes Chris away before he finds out what she has done and ends things for good.

Chris and Sarah are perfectly matched for each other and neither realize it. Chris thinks one day Sarah will realize there is someone better for her out there who’s successful and can give her all the things she deserves. Sarah feels the same about Chris, that one day he will wake up and realize she doesn’t fit into his world. If they would put as much effort into being open with each other instead of keeping the walls up and keeping each other at arms length they would realize how perfect for each other they really are, and hopefully that happens before they do something to the other that they will regret.

This was truly a powerful story. I couldn’t imagine growing up the way that either Chris or Sarah had. It’s more of a romantic drama, something I wasn’t expecting but very much enjoyed. I’m interested in reading the other Clipped Wings stories now, hoping that they fill in some of the blanks that I am left with. Although the book appears to be a standalone, I would have benefited more had I read the entire series. I’ve stayed away from these books thinking they were more fantasy romance and now I have more books to add to my never ending To Read list on Goodreads.

Excerpt Reveal – Sweet Cheeks

sweet_cheeks_excerpt-1

Excerpt

He chuckles and all of a sudden my back straightens. “That’s their schedule, Ships. Ours is a secret.” He abruptly stands and grabs my hand to pull me up. My body jolts at the connection that sitting side by side with him all this time has had buzzing just beneath the surface. As if knowing he was close enough to touch but not really touching was an awareness all in itself. I know he can feel it too. That I’m not alone. Because the words on his lips falter momentarily before he recovers. And a part of me wants to stay like this a bit longer but know it’s just that missed connection we lost so long ago that’s causing the sensations to simmer to the surface. Nostalgia. Muscle memory of the heart. “C’mon. Let’s go.”

Go?

“Yes. Go. It’ll be easier if you think of this whole trip as an adventure rather than their wedding.”

“And what? You’re my tour guide?”

“If that’s what you want to call me. I prefer cruise director though, considering we’re kind of stuck with the nautical theme, Ships.” He winks and holds his hand out.

“Oh, please.” I roll my eyes.

“Or captain.”

“You’re certifiable, you know that?” I shake my head and he pulls on my hand to help me stand.

“Quite possibly, but all that matters is I’m in charge of this schedule, and we need to get a move on it. Your adventure awaits.”

“And, oh captain, my captain, that adventure is what?” I drag my feet like a child, curious what he’s talking about but smiling nonetheless.

“Do you actually think I’m going to tell you?” He dazzles me with that smile I can’t resist. “Didn’t you know? Spontaneity is the best kind of adventure.”

Oh. Shit.
